West Bengal Violence: The Calcutta High Court has become strict regarding the communal violence between two groups in some districts of West Bengal during the Ram Navami procession. In the same sequence, he strongly reprimanded the ruling Mamta Banerjee’s government in the state and instructed to maintain law and order.
While hearing the petition filed in this matter, the High Court said, Mamta government should ensure that such situation of law and order should not arise in the procession taken out during Hanuman Jayanti. At any cost, processions should not be taken out from those areas where the government imposes Section 144. If the state government is not capable of handling the system, then central forces should be deployed in those areas.
What did the state’s CM Mamta Banerjee say?
In the past, there was violence in Hooghly and Howrah districts of West Bengal during the Ram Navami procession. The CM of the state accused the rival party BJP in the state for this violence. He said, BJP is behind the violence in Hooghly and Howrah. They brought goons from other states for violence in Bengal, which is not in our culture. They are defaming Hinduism by pitting one community against another. But the rioters have no religion, they are just political goons. I appeal to everyone to maintain calm.
Addressing a rally in East Medinipur district, Mamta targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah without naming him. He said, BJP had said that if it comes to power in Bihar, it will hang the rioters upside down. Expressing surprise, Mamta asked the question whether BJP is not taking any such step for its political goons.
