BJP on Asaduddin Owaisi: The ruling BJP at the Centre on Sunday (September 22, 2024) targeted AIMIM leader and MP Asaduddin Owaisi and asked him to refrain from “misleading” the Muslim community on the central government’s proposed Waqf Amendment Bill. Former MLC N. Ramachandra Rao claimed that the effort is only to “provide better representation to various sections of the minority community as well as protect properties”.
According to The Hindu report, during the press conference, former MLC N. Ramachander Rao alleged that Asaduddin Owaisi has been seen supporting his personal interests involved in deep corruption and mismanagement of Waqf properties across the country for the last several years. Apart from this, Rao said that MP Owaisi is also “afraid” of losing his control over the properties.
‘These communities have never been represented in the Waqf Board before’
Former MLC N. Ramachander Rao said that the central government has no other intention except giving representation to communities like women, Shia, Pasmanda Muslims and non-Muslims in the Wakf Board. These communities were never given representation in the Wakf Board before.
‘Lakhs of petitions have been received demanding amendments in the Waqf Bill’
N. Ramachander Rao claimed that people across the country are supporting the amendments, including intellectuals from Muslims and backward classes. Lakhs of petitions have already been received demanding the amendments. But, AIMIM leader Owaisi is spreading “misinformation” about the proposed amendments so that the current corrupt and illegal activities by the Waqf Board continue, even though it is against the interests of the Muslim community.
‘BJP membership drive has crossed the 6 lakh mark so far’
The former MLC said that the party membership drive launched nationwide on September 2 has received a good response despite festivals and heavy rains. However, it has already crossed the 6 lakh mark and about 4.2 crore people across the country have nominated themselves as members. He said that the party’s target is to get 50 lakh membership, with at least 200 members at every polling station.
