Rahul Roy Career: Mumbai is not called Mayanagari for nothing. While after one hit, luck changes overnight, on the other hand, after a flop, it doesn’t take long for stardom to go away. This city casts you aside more quickly than it accepts you. At least this is what has happened with many stars in Bollywood. Rahul Roy, who became the king of romance with his first film Aashiqui in the nineties, became such a superhit that he signed 47 films within 11 days. But a day came when the industry sidelined him and the audience rejected him.
The star shone after Aashiqui
Rahul Roy made his debut with Aashiqui, which was adorned with many songs. This blockbuster film of Mahesh Bhatt made him a star overnight, he became the heartthrob of young hearts. His pairing with Anu Aggarwal became a superhit. Both the stars created a stir right from the first film. In an interview given to Bollywood Hungama last year, Rahul Roy had revealed that he had no work after the release of the film but suddenly he got 47 films in 11 days. Rahul Roy got a salary of Rs 30 thousand for that big hit film.
After Aashiqui, Rahul Roy did films like Gajab Tamasha, Sapne Saajan Ke, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Game, Gumrah, Majhdhar, Naseeb and Achanak but none of the films could do wonders at the box office. After continuous flops, Rahul Roy gradually started moving away from films. However, as an actor, Rahul Roy tried his best to keep his acting alive. From films, he also shifted to TV, worked in many serials but then his luck changed once in 2006 where he won Bigg Boss. However, like before, even after winning the Bigg Boss trophy, Rahul Roy did not get any major benefit from it.
Troubled in personal life too
Along with professional life, Rahul Roy also had to face problems in personal life. After his career in Bollywood failed, he shifted to Australia with his wife Rajlakshmi Khanvilkar. There he also saw difficult days, even had to clean utensils. But a time came when his relationship with his wife could not continue and they got divorced in 2014 and Rahul Roy came back to India.
Had a brain stroke during the shooting of the film
Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke when he was shooting for LAC-Live The Battle in Ladakh in 2020. His health had deteriorated due to difficult weather. During this time, his sister Priyanka Roy and brother-in-law Romveer Sen took care of him. His sister had told that Salman Khan had paid the hospital bills.
