According to police sources, Sanjay More, accused in the Kurla bus accident case, accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the clutch of the bus. Sanjay had no experience of driving heavy vehicles, earlier Sanjay used to drive a mini bus. These buses had clutch, brake and accelerator. Similarly, after 10 days of training, Sanjay was directly given the opportunity to drive a big bus.

At the time of the accident, he mistook the clutch for the ‘accelerator’ and stepped on the ‘accelerator’, due to which the bus accelerated instead of stopping. Seeing the crowd on the road where the accident took place, Sanjay moved ahead and crashed the bus into the security wall to stop the uncontrolled bus.
Accused in custody till 21st December
Let us tell you that BEST Enterprises constituted a committee on Tuesday to investigate the bus accident that took place in Kurla area of Mumbai. Meanwhile, a court here has sent the bus driver to police custody till December 21. BEST, run by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BSC), said in a release that a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased. According to BEST, the inquiry committee will be headed by Chief Manager (Transport) Ramesh Madavi. BEST will also bear the expenses of treatment of the persons injured in the accident.
Demand for compensation of Rs 10 lakh each
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation met BEST General Manager Anil Diggikar and demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh to the injured.
