Especially in Bhagalpur, Kishanganj and Vaishali districts, the arrival of migratory birds is very high and people come from far and wide to see the birds. Now Bihar government will get those birds counted.

What did Minister Prem Kumar say on birds?

Forest and Environment Minister of Bihar Government, Prem Kumar said that every year migratory birds from about 30 countries come to our Bihar from the countries where cold increases, we welcome them. He is our guest. Now the Bihar government will count those migratory birds and how many types and numbers of migratory birds come here. We have sites in many districts of Bihar, which are working.

A workshop on Asian Waterbird Census 2025 was organized today by the Forest and Environment Department at Aranya Bhawan, Patna. It was inaugurated by Minister Prem Kumar. On this occasion, he said that the Asian Waterbird Census was started in 2022 and under this, work is being done on how to protect the animals and birds which are a part of our life in Bihar.

He told that at present about 400 species of birds are found in Bihar. These include birds of prey, water birds, water line birds and birds living on trees. He said that every year migratory birds from 30 countries come here from 20 routes. Through today’s program, not only the conservation of birds but also the people and organizations who are working to save animals and birds, those people are connected and we thank those who make such contribution and conserve the birds. Emphasis on conservation of birds in Bihar

Prem Kumar said that our department has taken a pledge to conserve birds and improve their future in Bihar. This requires more efforts and awareness. Therefore, by doing such programs, we want to connect the organization and those people to further intensify the campaign in the coming time, because Bihar has a population of 14 crores and there are only around 2000 forest workers in our department.

There is a population of 140 crores in the entire country, so to make the bird protection campaign successful, it is necessary to give it the form of a mass movement. It is necessary to take public cooperation. This will further increase the potential of tourists and will also provide employment opportunities in Bihar. Cabinet has given approval to allot land to increase tourism.
