Grand conference of NRIs in Bhubaneswar, President of Trinidad may be the chief guest

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025: In the year 2025, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas is being organized in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas will be celebrated in Bhubaneswar from 8-10 January.

President of Trinidad and Tobago may be the chief guest

According to sources, this time the President of Trinidad and Tobago will be the chief guest of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet. Apart from this, immigrants from more than 50 countries will participate in this program.

The Government of Odisha and the Ministry of External Affairs of India are busy in the preparations for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. According to a media booklet of the Ministry of External Affairs regarding Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, the theme of the 18th PBD will be ‘Contribution of Overseas Indians to the Concept of Developed India’. Some big topics will be discussed in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was first started in the year 2003 during the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Till 2015, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas was celebrated every year, but since 2015, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas is celebrated once in every 2 years. Last time in the year 2023, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas was organized in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh.

In 1915, when Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa, he got involved in the Indian independence movement. In his memory, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas started being celebrated on 9 January. It is celebrated to mark the contribution of NRIs in the development of India and to provide them a bigger platform. This also proves to be a big platform in that direction so that NRIs should always remain connected to the soil of their ancestors.
