Hanuman Jayanti 2023: After the violent incidents on Ram Navami, the government is cautious about Hanuman Jayanti. On Wednesday (April 5), the Center directed all the states to ensure law and order and peace on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The Calcutta High Court also directed the West Bengal government to appeal for the deployment of central forces. Know the big things related to the preparations for Hanuman Jayanti.
1. There was violence in many parts of the country during Ram Navami. Vehicles were also torched in the incidents of communal violence in West Bengal and Bihar. In view of this, the Center directed all the states and union territories to ensure law and order and peace on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 6 and keep an eye on the factors likely to disrupt communal harmony in the society.
2. The home minister’s office tweeted that the state and union territory governments are encouraged to maintain law and order, maintain peace during the festival and keep a check on all kinds of factors that have the potential to disturb communal harmony in the society. .
3. The Calcutta High Court also directed the West Bengal government to appeal for deployment of central forces to assist the state police in maintaining peace during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. The court said that in view of the incidents that have happened in the recent past, orders are being given to assure the general public that they are safe and they will not face any kind of trouble.
4. Acting Chief Justice T.S. A bench headed by Sivagnanam said that prevention is better than cure. The court directed the West Bengal government to appeal for the deployment of central forces to prevent any untoward incident during the Hanuman Jayanti rallies on Thursday. The court also directed the Center to make expeditious arrangements for such deployment on receipt of a request from the state. The court pronounced this order on a public interest litigation filed by Shubhendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
5. Following the orders of the court, 3 companies of central forces will be deployed in Bengal on Hanuman Jayanti. It was decided to deploy 3 army companies in Kolkata, Hooghly, Barrackpore. Not more than 100 people will be allowed to participate in the procession. The state government has decided to impose section 144 in sensitive areas. These decisions were taken in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary.
6. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged people to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti peacefully so that there is no problem anywhere. He said that tomorrow is Hanuman Jayanti. I urge everyone to celebrate it peacefully. If peace is maintained then there will be no problem. Bengal is the land of peace. Religion is a personal choice whereas festivals are for all.
7. The police of the country’s capital Delhi is also alert about Hanuman Jayanti. Police took out a flag march in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Wednesday. Apart from this, the police refused permission to Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group to take out a procession in Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti. Delhi Police told ANI that the VHP and another group had sought permission to take out a procession for Hanuman Jayanti, but permission was denied to the organizers in view of the law and order situation.
8. Significantly, during the processions on the day of Ram Navami, violent incidents had come to the fore in many states of the country. Stone pelting and arson were done in West Bengal, Maharashtra, UP, Bihar. There have been incidents of clashes, arson and bombings in Hooghly and Howrah districts of West Bengal. During these incidents, many vehicles were set on fire in Howrah and many shops were ransacked.
9. There was a clash in Rishra town of West Bengal during the procession of Ram Navami on Sunday. BJP’s National Vice President Dilip Ghosh and the party’s MLA from Pursura Biman Ghosh were present in this procession. The MLA was injured in the violence and has been admitted to the hospital. The Union Home Ministry on Tuesday sought a detailed report from the state government on the violence during Ram Navami in Howrah district of West Bengal.
10. Communal violence also broke out in the towns of Sasaram and Bihar Sharif in Bihar on 30 and 31 March. After which vehicles, houses and shops were set on fire and many people were injured in it. So far 170 people have been arrested in this case. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had expressed concern about these incidents and asked Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to take stock of the situation. The Ministry of Home Affairs also sent additional paramilitary forces to Bihar to assist the state administration in dealing with the situation.
