Android users will soon be able to send messages from their smartphones even without any mobile network. Google has been working on such amazing features for some time now. This feature of Google has recently been seen during beta testing. The tech company can bring this feature in the name of Satellite Messaging Service. With the advent of this satellite messaging feature, users will be able to send messages from their phones without any active mobile network.
Satellite messaging feature
Apart from the satellite messaging feature, artificial intelligence tool Gemini AI will also be integrated in Google Message. After this, users will be able to take suggestions from Gemini AI while sending messages on their Android smartphones. Google’s satellite messaging feature was first spotted by 9To5Google website.
According to the report, the satellite messaging feature has been seen in the latest beta version 20240329_01_RC00 from Google Messages. The coding string of this version describes three different features, which include information like sending and receiving messages, stay outside with clear view and satellite messaging. However, users will not be able to send photos and videos through the satellite messaging feature.
This feature will be added to Google Messages in case of emergency service i.e. SOS. Even if users are in an emergency and there is no mobile network, they will still be able to seek help using this service. The report says that this satellite messaging service of Google will be different from the satellite connectivity feature of iPhone.
How will it work?
In Apple’s satellite connectivity feature, users can only do emergency service, roadside assistance and location sharing in case of emergency. Through this feature of Google, users will also be able to have a conversation with someone in case of emergency. Users will be able to communicate with emergency contacts on their smartphones through satellite messaging. It is not clear at the moment when this feature of Google will be rolled out. It is expected that this feature will be tested till the stable version of Android 15.
