Ravi Shastri Suggests Virat-Rohit to Play Domestic Cricket: Even though the Indian team captained by Rohit Sharma was successful in winning the T20 World Cup for the second time in 2024, but after that their form went from bad to worse. Along with this, Virat Kohli was also seen struggling with his poor form. In the year 2024, Rohit Sharma scored 619 Test runs in 26 innings at an average of 24.76, while Virat Kohli scored only 417 Test runs in 19 innings at an average of 24.52.

Even in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, both of their bats could not perform well, after which many veteran cricketers started advising Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to play domestic cricket. Now the name of former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has also been added to this list.

Discussing the ICC review, Ravi Shastri said that domestic cricket will not only help him improve his technique but will also give him an opportunity to mentor young players. He said, “If he has time, he should play domestic cricket. This will give him a chance to keep pace with the new generation and share his experience.”

Ravi Shastri also discussed Virat Kohli’s technical problems and India’s challenging position on turning pitches. He said, “If the opposition team has good spinners, they can trouble you. It is important to play domestic cricket to perform better in these conditions.”

Ravi Shastri said that the final decision has to be taken by Kohli and Rohit and it depends on their hunger and desire for the game. Giving examples of great players like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, he said that such experienced players are not only important for the team but can also play the role of mentor for young players.
