Archery World Cup was held in April, in which Indian athletes performed brilliantly and won a total of 15 medals. India won 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals in that tournament. Most of India’s medals came in team events, but Indian archers struggled in singles events.
18 year old world chess champion
Dommaraju Gukesh created history by winning the World Chess Championship at the age of just 18. He became the youngest chess player in the world to become world champion. He won the title by defeating Ding Liren of China in the 14th round in the final.
Women won the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy
India hoisted its flag in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. The Indian hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy title by remaining undefeated in the entire tournament. Team India had created history by defeating China 1-0 in the final. This was the third time that the Indian women’s hockey team had won the Asian Champions Trophy title.
