Ratan Tata, Indian industrialist and former chairman of Tata Group, was born on 28 December 1937 in Bombay. His education helped him to gain an important position not only in the world of business but also in the society. Ratan Tata received his early education from Campion School, Mumbai, where he studied till 8th class. After this he continued his studies at Cathedral and John Connon School and then Bishop Cotton School, Shimla.

Took admission in America
After his schooling, Ratan Tata enrolled at Cornell University in America, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch). This experience helped in broadening his perspective. Subsequently, in 1975, he did the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, which gave him a deeper understanding of management and leadership.
Early career
Ratan Tata started his career with Tata Group in the 1960s. He started working on the shop floor of Tata Steel, where he worked on extracting limestone and handling the blast furnace. During this time, he gained experience in various areas of Tata Group, which later proved helpful in his leadership.
New position for Tata Group
In 1991, Ratan Tata took over as the Chairman of Tata Sons. Under his leadership, Tata Group not only increased its income but also made its mark at the global level. Tata Group expanded into many sectors, such as steel, automobile, information technology, telecommunication and hospitality.
Ratan Tata’s achievements include some important acquisitions, such as the purchase of British steel maker Corus by Tata Steel and the acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors. These steps made Tata Group a strong competitor at the global level.
