FPI Investment: The confidence of FPIs or foreign portfolio investors on the Indian markets remains intact and due to this their investment is increasing in the Indian market. Foreign investors invested Rs 11,119 crore in the Indian stock market in December. Despite the Kovid infection in some parts of the world, this was the second consecutive month in which there were net arrivals.
However, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have turned cautious in recent times. Data from depositories shows that inflows in December were much lower as compared to Rs 36,239 crore invested by FPIs in the month of November.

“FPIs remained net buyers in Indian equity markets (in December) despite re-emergence of Covid in some parts of the world and concerns about recession in the US,” said Himanshu Srivastava, Joint Director – Research Manager, Morningstar India.
Withdrawals from Indian markets also took place
During this, many investors also booked profits in the Indian markets. Overall, FPIs have made a net withdrawal of Rs 1.21 lakh crore from the Indian equity markets in 2022. This was the worst year in terms of FPI inflows. Net investment came in the first three years.
The figure of foreign exchange reserves also decreased
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the figures of India Forex Reserves. RBI said that in the week ending December 23, 2022, it decreased by $ 691 million to $ 562.808 billion. Along with this, the country’s foreign exchange reserves have decreased for the second consecutive week.
December GST collection figures came today
GST collection of Rs 1,49,507 crore has been recorded in the month of December last year. If seen in this way, the government is earning handsomely from the GST collection and the government is getting a lot of revenue in this matter.
