Cyrus Mystery Death: Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident in Palghar, Mumbai on Sunday, 4 September. He was returning to Mumbai by road back from Ahmedabad. Cyrus Mistry was one of the industrialists who preferred to work quietly without coming into the limelight. He had reached the heights of the corporate world at an early age. He was outspoken as well as being soft spoken. Some important things related to his life are as follows.
- He was the sixth and youngest chairman of Tata Sons, a representative company of the Tata group. When he became the chairman in the year 2012, his age was only 44 years. ,
- He was only the second person from outside the Tata family to become the chairman of Tata Sons.
- Mistry replaced his father Pallonji Shapoorji on the board of Tata Sons, who held the highest single stake of 18.5 per cent in the company. He also served as a director on the boards of Tata Power and Tata Alexei.
- As chairman of Tata Sons, Mistry emphasized profitability and sustainability. He took several steps to get rid of non-performing assets, including the sale and closure of some foreign units.
- Before becoming the chairman of Tata Sons, he was the managing director of his family’s Shapoorji Pallonji Group. He entered the family business in 1991 as a director of construction company Shapoorji Pallonji & Co.
- Shapoorji Pallonji’s manufacturing business under Mistry grew from $20 million to $1.5 billion.
- Born on July 4, 1968 in Mumbai, Cyrus Mistry was an Irish citizen. His mother was from Ireland.
- Cyrus’s wife’s name is Rohika Chagla and she is also a corporate icon like Cyrus. They were married in 1992.
- Apart from being soft spoken, Mistry loved to play golf and read books.
- Mistry’s sister Alu is married to Noel Tata, who is Ratan Tata’s half-brother.
