According to news agency PTI, the local court in Tamil Nadu has approved the bail of suspended ADGP Rajesh Das, convicted in the 2021 sexual harassment case. At the same time, 30 days time has been given to file the petition.
In 2021, the woman officer had made the allegation
According to the NDTV report, the woman IPS officer had lodged a complaint against her senior officer in February 2021. In which it was alleged that the then Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy was on patrolling duty for his safety, at the same time he had sex. The same report in The Print mentions that according to the complainant, Das first begged, then threatened and misused government machinery to stop him from reporting the matter.
After this, the AIADMK (AIADMK) government suspended Rajesh Das and formed a 6-member committee to investigate. A member of the prosecution team said, “The prosecution had recorded statements of 68 people, including police personnel. The authorities can appeal and seek bail immediately.”
After this, Rajesh Das also got bail from the local court. After the matter came to light in the year 2021, it became an election issue and MK Stalin (the current Chief Minister), who was the leader of the opposition at that time, had assured due legal process after coming to power.
