In the 17 Lok Sabha elections held in Ghosi from 1957 to 2019, Congress has been able to capture this seat only four times. Only Kalpanath Rai had reached Delhi from Ghosi Lok Sabha seat after winning the elections twice in a row on Congress ticket. In the Lok Sabha elections held in 1957, Umrao Singh of the Congress Party had won from Ghosi Lok Sabha seat, after which Ghosi Lok Sabha seat became the stronghold of the Communist Party. In the Lok Sabha elections of 1962, 1967, 1968 and 1971, the Communist Party held the Ghosi Lok Sabha seat. Janata Party candidate Shivram Rai had won from here in the 1977 Lok Sabha elections. After that, in the 1980 Lok Sabha elections, this seat once again went to the Communist Party, but in the 1984 Lok Sabha elections, this seat once again came under the control of Congress when Rajkumar Rai became MP from here on Congress ticket.
After that, in the Lok Sabha elections held in 1989 and 1991, Congress Party candidate Kalpanath Rai had won this seat, but in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections, Kalpanath Rai contested as an independent and won. In the Lok Sabha elections of 1998, Kalpanath Rai once again won, but this time he contested on the ticket of Samata Party. In this election, Chandrajeet of Congress stood fourth. After that, in 1999, Congress Party made Kalpanath Rai’s wife Sudha Rai its candidate but she stood third. Talking about the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party again made Kalpanath Rai’s wife Sudha Rai its candidate from this seat, but she once again could not win the election and stood second.
In the year 2009, Congress party again gave ticket to Sudha Rai but she stood third. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, when the Modi wave was going on all around, the Congress Party made Rajkumar Singh its candidate on this seat and he stood fifth. After this, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress fielded former MP Balkrishna Chauhan from Ghosi Lok Sabha seat, but he also could not win the election and remained at the third position. Now in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ghosi Lok Sabha seat has gone to Samajwadi Party under the India Alliance. Ghosi like this Lok Sabha Elections This will be the first time in the history of elections when the EVM will not have the election symbol of the Congress party.
