Flood in Spain: Spain is currently struggling with the problem of floods. More than 200 people have lost their lives so far in this natural disaster. The city most affected by floods is Valencia.
According to CNA report, at least 205 people have lost their lives in this storm. Most of the deaths have occurred in Valencia city. In view of the danger, officials have issued a warning. Officials have said that roads have broken down in some areas, due to which emergency services are not able to reach.
Emergency Response United 1000 members deployed
About 1,000 members of the Spanish Army’s Emergency Response Unit have been deployed to the affected areas, assisting in rescue and cleanup efforts. However, there is power shortage and phone network disruption in many areas.
Meteorologists have blamed ‘Dana’ for this torrential rain. They believe this happens when a cold air system collides with the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Whereas its effects are often local. Similar events wreaked havoc in 1966 and 1957, when the Turia river overflowed and destroyed the city of Valencia.
