Flight ticket prices have skyrocketed, bookings have doubled, how will we be able to celebrate Diwali with our loved ones

Diwali 2024: This year, Diwali festival is going to be celebrated across the country on October 31. During this time, crores of people reach their relatives by train, bus and plane so that this festival can be celebrated with their loved ones. If you were also planning to go home on the festival, then you will be shocked to know that flight tickets around Diwali are getting increasingly expensive. There has been an almost double jump in airline bookings as well.

Flight bookings up by 85%, fares up by 15%

Business Standard has reported in its report quoting World on Holiday that Diwali flight bookings have increased by about 85 percent. People are booking their tickets on an average 27 days in advance. Fares have also increased by about 15 percent. Last year, airfares had doubled a week before Diwali. It is feared that fares will rise sharply this year too. Airlines are getting the highest bookings for places like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Chennai, Lucknow, Port Blair and Patna.

Bookings for these cities increased manifold, fares are expected to double

According to the report, bookings for Guwahati have increased the most by 386 percent. People are eager to go home for the festival. After this, bookings for Jaipur have increased by 306 percent and for Patna by 271 percent. Bookings for other cities are also increasing rapidly. The leading travel website MakeMyTrip had started a special campaign for booking Diwali flights from August itself. It also warned that the fares are going to increase soon. Apart from this, Cleartrip has also said that bookings have increased by about 15 percent around Diwali. Apart from Diwali, flight tickets for Chhatt Puja and Govardhan Puja are very expensive every year.
