Justin Trudeau: The tension between India and Canada is increasing these days. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shared a video of celebrating Diwali on Twitter (first), in which he went to temples to celebrate Diwali and interacted with the Hindu community. While sharing the video, he said, “Happy Diwali! Had many special moments celebrating with the community this week.”
What did Trudeau say while tying Kalawa?
“I got these when I visited three different temples in the last few months. It’s a sign of good luck. It provides protection. I’m not going to take them off until it Don’t fall.” Trudeau was also seen in the video interacting warmly with people from the Hindu community and enjoying traditional Indian sweets like jalebi.
Bitterness arose between the two countries after India was accused of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Earlier on Friday, while wishing Diwali, Trudeau spoke on the importance of this festival. His statement read, Happy Diwali… Today, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain families will celebrate the victory of light over darkness with festivities, candles, lamps and fireworks.

Decision was taken to cancel Diwali
Earlier, Canada’s opposition leader Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative Party had decided to cancel this year’s Diwali celebrations, after which huge resentment was seen among the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities. India’s Foreign Ministry had expressed displeasure over this.
