Kolkata Airport Fire Update: The news of a fire at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport came to light on Wednesday (June 14) night. However, now the fire has been completely brought under control. As soon as the information was received, two fire tenders had reached the spot. After some time the fire was brought under control and all the passengers were safely evacuated from inside the terminal.
Kolkata airport officials have not yet given the reason for the fire. At present, there is a possibility of fire due to short circuit. After the fire, there was an atmosphere of chaos among the passengers. Officials say that the fire broke out at around 9.12 am. There is no information about any casualty in the incident.

Statement of Airport Authority of India
The Airport Authority of India said that there was a minor fire and smoke at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport Kolkata check-in area portal D at around 9.12 pm. It was brought under control by 9.40 pm. All passengers were evacuated safely and the process has been suspended due to the presence of smoke in the check-in area. Operations have now resumed.
There was a minor fire & smoke on the check in area portal D at 2112 pm. and fully extinguished by 2140 pm.

CISF told that a fire broke out at the D Portal check-in counter. Passengers and staff were evacuated from the terminal building due to smoke. There is no information about any injuries. The fire has been extinguished. Normal operations are being restored.
What did Jyotiraditya Scindia say?
At the same time, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also tweeted about the incident. “An unfortunate but minor fire broke out near a check-in counter at Kolkata airport,” he said. He said that he is in touch with the airport director and the situation is completely under control. Fortunately, everyone is safe and no injuries have been reported. The check-in process has been resumed at 10.25 am. The cause of the fire will be ascertained as soon as possible.
