Female doctor molested, cab was canceled due to delay, angry driver sent obscene messages

Kolkata: The case of RG Kar College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal has not been completely resolved when a case of molestation of another female doctor has come to light. In the case, the accused cab driver threatened the female doctor, sent obscene videos and even threatened her with dire consequences for canceling the cab booked online.

The matter occurred around 8 pm on Friday (November 1, 2024). The junior female doctor of the Corporate Hospital of EM Bypass had booked a cab through In Drive Application. Due to delay in reaching the pickup spot, the lady doctor canceled the cab. Seeing this, the cab driver got angry and threatened the female doctor and sent an obscene video message. After canceling the cab, the cab driver called the woman several times and finally threatened her with dire consequences.

Complaint registered in cyber cell

After the incident, the female doctor lodged an online complaint regarding the entire matter with CP Kolkata (Police Commissioner) and Joint CP Kolkata. The female doctor also emailed the cyber cell. After this, today Dr. Sunandan Basu and Dr. Tanmay Banerjee of West Bengal Doctors Forum helped the female doctor by going to East Jadavpur Police Station to register the FIR at 2 pm, where the police has assured to take appropriate action.

Case registered under various sections

In the entire case, the police have invoked various sections of the Indian Justice Code, including Section 75 (sexual harassment), Section 79 (outraging the dignity of a woman) and Section 351 (criminal intimidation). The police have assured the female doctor that appropriate action will be taken on her behalf.
