Tirupati Laddu Prasadam Controversy: Subramanian Swamy has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the use of animal fat in Laddu Prasadam in Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. In this petition, he has demanded the formation of an SIT to investigate the entire matter. Earlier, Surjeet Yadav of Hindu Sena Samiti and Suresh Chavan of Sudarshan TV have also filed a petition on this matter.

In this case, Hindu Sena president Surjeet Singh Yadav has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. On this issue, lawyer Satyam Singh Rajput had sent a letter petition to the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

Know what is the whole controversy

Citing the lab report, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had claimed that animal fat was found in the pure ghee used in temple prasadam. Apart from this, substandard material is being used in making prasadam. Since then, there has been a political upheaval in the country.

TTD Executive Officer Shamla Rao issued a statement

On the Tirupati Laddu Prasadam controversy, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Executive Officer Shamala Rao said, “A sensory panel has been set up which will evaluate the food samples on parameters of aroma, taste and texture. To remove any ‘doshas’ that may have occurred during various events or religious rituals conducted for Lord Venkateswara, every year TTD organises ‘Pavitrotsavam’. To ensure that the faith of devotees is restored and they pray with a peaceful mind, a one-day ‘Samprokshan’ and ‘Shanti Homa’ will be organised tomorrow. With this, we are hoping that the sanctity of the Devalayam will be restored.”

He further said, “We have set up a system to check adulteration of ghee in TTD for the first time in the last three months. In the history of TTD, we have never checked adulteration of ghee in external laboratories. We do not have internal capacity to check. This is the first time we have started checking and we will continue it. If someone tries to supply adulterated goods, we will naturally blacklist them and also take other legal action. TTD is also trying to set up an in-house lab.”
