Earlier on 6th and 8th December, farmers had tried to cross the border, but Ambala police did not allow them to cross the Ghaggar bridge. The police said that the farmers did not have permission to go ahead, due to which there was a clash between the police and the farmers.
The police also fired tear shells at the farmers. Farmers have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders between Punjab and Haryana since February 13. This protest is being organized under the banner of United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha.
