First marriage was with Shobha

Dr. S. Jaishankar studied in JNU, where he met Shobha. First there was friendship between the two and then gradually the friendship turned into love, after which both of them got married. A few years after marriage, Shobha got cancer. She struggled with this disease for some time, but then she died. A few years after the death of his first wife, S. Jaishankar was working at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. It was here that he met Kyoko Somekawa, who became his second wife. Kyoko is often seen with husband S Jaishankar at political parties and events.

Meet Kyoko Somakawa in Japan

From 1996 to 2000, S Jaishankar worked in the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. During these four years in Japan, S. Jaishankar met his current wife Kyoko Somakawa and fell in love with her. They met at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo and became friends. S. Another interesting thing about Jaishankar and his wife Kyoko is that their birthday falls on 9th January only.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has three children. Has two sons- Dhruv Jaishankar, Arjun Jaishankar and daughter Megha Jaishankar. Megha is associated with the film industry and has worked as a reporter and camera operator for the BBC show Talking Movies. S Jaishankar often talks about Japanese influence and love for their culture in interviews. Kyoko Somekawa speaks Hindi language very well.
