Excise Policy: HC’s decision on Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest soon

Arvind Kejriwal News Live: The High Court will give its verdict on Tuesday (April 9, 2024) on the petition of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in a money laundering case related to Delhi Liquor Policy. CM Kejriwal has filed a petition in the court challenging the arrest.

Apart from his arrest, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has also challenged his being sent to ED custody. After ED’s custody, the court has sent Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.

What questions has Arvind Kejriwal raised?
Kejriwal said that he was arrested in view of the Lok Sabha elections. This is a violation of the basic structure of the Constitution including democracy, fair elections and equal opportunity. Whereas ED has said that the law applies equally to everyone.

What argument has the ED given?
ED has claimed that there were irregularities in making and preparing the Delhi Excise Policy. Its main conspirator is Arvind Kejriwal. Apart from this, many big leaders and ministers of AAP have been involved in this. The Central Investigation Agency has opposed Kejriwal’s petition saying that exemption from arrest cannot be given on the basis of elections, because everyone is equal before the law.

On the other hand, AAP said on ED’s claim that BJP is working under the spirit of political vendetta, but people are with us and will answer them. Central investigating agencies are being misused. By doing this they are harassing the opposition.

Actually, ED had arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in a money laundering case related to excise policy. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is also in jail in this case. Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has recently got bail in the case.
