Children Eye Problem : Children are very sensitive, hence they easily fall prey to diseases. For some time now, a disease has been increasingly making children its victims. Every third child in the world is struggling with this disease. This is an eye related disease, which is called Myopia.
A report published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology states that myopia is being seen in children across the country. One out of every three children is becoming its victim. In this report, alerting everyone, it has been said that if attention is not given at the right time, then by 2050, about 40% of the children will be affected by this problem.

what is myopia
Myopia means nearsightedness. In this, due to refractive error, children cannot see any distant object clearly, that is, they cannot see the nearby object clearly. In this disease, children wear glasses at an early age. Therefore, doctors advise to take care of them from the beginning. Children suffering from myopia are unable to see TV, sign boards on the road, black boards in school properly.

3. Feeling of strain and fatigue in the eyes

5. Persistent headache
Why is myopia spreading in children?
Weak eyesight of 5, 10 year old children is not a good sign. Nowadays, children’s screen time has increased and outside physical activities have decreased. Parents leave their children with their mobile phones to watch cartoons. This starts having negative effects on the eyes of children in the developing stage itself. Due to which eyesight is becoming rapidly weak.

The biggest reasons for myopia
1. According to the National Eye Institute, myopia often begins between the ages of 6 and 14 and its symptoms can get worse by the age of 20. The reason for this is keeping the eyes glued to the screen.
2. Diabetes According to the Cleveland Clinic, many health conditions like diabetes can cause myopia in adults as well.
3. Visual stress, continuous time spent on smartphone or laptop screen can cause myopia.
4. Family history i.e. genetic condition can also cause myopia.
5. Staying away from home most of the time can also make a patient of myopia.
How to protect children’s eyes from myopia
1. Increase outdoor activities.
2. Take children to green places.
3. Reduce screen time.
4. Ask to take breaks in between studying.
5. Don’t look at the screen or book too closely.
6. Wear antiglare or blue tint glasses in front of a screen.
