Hemant Soren ED Interrogation: ED’s interrogation of CM Hemant Soren in the illegal mining lease case in Jharkhand is over. This questioning lasted for about 8 hours, at present Soren has left the office of the Enforcement Directorate. At the same time, before going to the ED office, Soren had said that all the allegations leveled against him in the case are baseless.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had called Soren for questioning in a money laundering case related to alleged illegal mining in the state. Earlier, Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleged in the press conference that he was a victim of the opposition’s conspiracy. “The agency should press charges only after detailed investigation of the case,” he said.
CM Soren expressed doubt on the figures
The ED has said that it has so far ‘detected’ illegal mining-related crime worth Rs 1,000 crore in the state. Soren said, “If we calculate the annual revenue from mines and minerals, it will not reach Rs 1000 crore. I am going to the ED office and want to see how they arrived at that figure.

Tight security arrangements were made in the ED office
At the same time, security was increased around the ED office to avoid any untoward incident. Just before Soren appeared before the ED at 10.30 am on Thursday, curfew was imposed in an area of about two kilometers around the agency’s office in Ranchi’s Hinoo area.
Ranchi’s Sub-Divisional Magistrate Deepak Dubey issued a notification that curfew has been imposed under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure from 10.30 am near the ED’s office in the light of information about the sit-in demonstration by several organizations. Along with this, a large number of security forces were deployed around the ED office.
