Tamil Nadu Minister ED Raids: Opposition parties have attacked the central government after the ED raid on the premises of Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji on Tuesday (June 13). Several main opposition leaders, including Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, have condemned the raid and termed it as an act of vendetta against the opposition.
Sharad Pawar tweeted, “I strongly condemn the ED’s continued crackdown against ministers of governments ruled by opposition parties. With the raid on Senthil Balaji’s office, the ED is now about to rise against the undemocratic central government.” has reached the southern states with its aim of suppressing the voice.”
What did the CM of Tamil Nadu say?
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said, “The ED raid on the Secretariat office of Minister Senthil Balaji is a direct attack on the federal principle. BJP’s backdoor tactics against its political opponents will not yield good results. BJP’s The silence of those watching the petty acts of vendetta politics should not be underestimated. This is nothing but the calm before the storm of 2024 which will sweep the BJP away.”
Congress President condemned
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The Congress party condemns the blatant misuse of the ED in the search of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister’s office. These are brazen attempts by the Modi government to harass and intimidate. Misuse of investigative agencies against political opponents This has been the hallmark of the Modi government. These gimmicks will not succeed in silencing the opposition.”
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the premises of V Senthil Balaji on Tuesday in connection with the investigation of a money laundering case. Official sources gave this information to news agency PTI. Official sources said that apart from here and Erode, searches were also conducted in Karur, Balaji’s home district. ED officials said searches were also carried out in Balaji’s office room in the secretariat here.
Arvind Kejriwal’s attack on the Center
Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on the matter, “BJP’s misuse of central agencies to harass and intimidate the opposition continues unabated. ED against Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji Strongly condemn the raids. Blinded by political vendetta, the BJP is causing irreparable damage to our democracy.”

TMC Chief and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee also targeted the Center regarding this raid. She tweeted, “I condemn this act of political vendetta by the BJP against the DMK. The misuse of central agencies continues unabated. ED raids on Tamil Nadu minister’s state secretariat and his official residence are unacceptable. This BJP What a despicable act.”
What did Minister Balaji say?
Veteran DMK leader Balaji, who hails from Karur district, said he was not aware of what the officials had come to find at his premises. He assured full cooperation in the investigation. He also handles the excise department of the state. Balaji was earlier in the AIADMK and was the transport minister in late Jayalalithaa’s government. Sources said the ED took action under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Income Tax Department had also carried out searches at the premises of people close to Balaji in the state last month. Reacting to ED’s search today, Balaji said that he is ready to fully cooperate with the probe agency. ED officials were accompanied by personnel of central paramilitary forces during the raids. It may be noted that last month, officials of the Income Tax Department, who had gone to search some premises linked to Balaji in Karur, were allegedly attacked.
