E-commerce: The craze of online shopping has caught almost everyone in urban areas. Ecommerce companies had expanded their business in cities by changing the attitude towards shopping and making it convenient. But, this festive season, online shopping has made its place in every village. Despite all the challenges, these companies are making deliveries in rural areas. Ecommerce is booming in small cities and towns. Such tremendous demand is being generated from these areas that the coffers of e-commerce companies are filled even before Diwali (Diwali 2024).
Orders received from 2800 small cities in Flipkart Big Billion Days
According to a report by Business Standard, in small cities, towns and rural areas they have to overcome challenges like weather, long distances and connectivity. But, on the basis of infrastructure and technology, they are delivering their goods to every corner of the country. Flipkart has recently reached out to about 2,800 small cities in its Big Billion Days. According to Flipkart, demand in the first 24 hours was generated from big cities. After that most of the orders came from small cities and towns. Due to increase in delivery area, employment is also being created in these areas. Flipkart has opened 11 new full-fulfillment centers in the festive season. With their help, about 1 lakh jobs have been created.
Amazon and Meesho also delivered to every corner of the country.
On the other hand, a similar trend has been seen in Amazon’s Great India Festival. According to Amazon, there is a lot of demand for electronics, fashion, mobile, beauty and grooming products in these areas. An increase of about 40 percent has been seen in no cost EMI transactions. People from rural areas are now buying fridges, TVs and washing machines. Amazon claims that it is delivering to 100 percent pin codes of the country. These also include remote areas of hilly states like Uttarakhand. Amazon’s footprints have reached from Andaman and Nicobar to Leh. Same is the condition of Meesho’s Mega Blockbuster Sale.
