NGOs: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice. The notice has asked non-governmental organizations (NGOs) not to show vulnerable children in pitiable conditions in their advertisements to raise funds.
NCPCR has given this notice when a voice was raised against it in the Parliament. NCPCR has told the NGO that the country is collecting money from abroad. Taking action on this, NCPCR notice has been issued.
MP had expressed concern before the commission
National Protection of Child Rights notice to NGOs that a Member of Parliament has raised concern before the Commission that various NGOs are promoting domestic and international print media, news channels, websites and social media by showing ‘vulnerable children in pitiable condition’ But raising funds through advertisements.
‘Doing so violates child rights’
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights said, “In the above regard, the Commission is of the view that such activities constitute a violation of child rights, which is violative of the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.”
