An alert to airlines from Osprey Flight Solutions, a UK-based independent aviation security firm, said the plane was hit by a missile “from a Russian military air-defense system,” the WSJ reports.
The company’s chief intelligence officer, Matt Borie, said: “Video of the wreckage and the circumstances surrounding the airspace security environment in southwestern Russia indicate that the aircraft was hit by some form of anti-aircraft attack. “
What did Azerbaijan Airlines say?
Azerbaijan Airlines has said that all flights to Russia will remain canceled until the investigation into the plane crash is completed.
