Dewas: Youth dies in police custody! After Bhim Army’s demonstration, SP assured investigation

Dewas News: A youth committed suicide by hanging himself during police custody in Satwas police station of Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. Bhim Army and members of the victim’s family surrounded the police station regarding this incident. Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod reached the police station and asked the victim’s family for a fair investigation.

Dewas Police Superintendent Puneet Gehlod said that on December 26, a woman had complained against Mukesh Longre, a resident of Malagaon, at Satwas police station. Mukesh was called to the police station on Saturday regarding this complaint application. The police were preparing to record Mukesh’s statement at the police station.

During this time he tried to hang himself with his towel, due to which he got seriously injured. Satwas police took him to the police hospital for treatment, where the doctors declared Mukesh dead after examination. The SP of the district said that a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the death that took place in the police station. Whatever facts come forward in this matter, action will be taken accordingly. Regarding this incident, Bhim Army workers along with the victim’s family had surrounded the Satwas police station.

Accusations leveled against policemen of Satwas police station

The family members of Mukesh Longre accused the policemen of Satwas police station of demanding bribe. He said that a demand of ₹ 6000 was made to release Mukesh from custody. Mukesh was also beaten up for money. Mukesh’s friend who had gone to the police station with him was arranging the money. When he reached the police station with ₹6000, he came to know that Mukesh had died and his body had been sent to the hospital for post-mortem.

Investigation will be done on the basis of NHRC guidelines

Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlod said that this matter is very serious. This matter will be investigated as per the guidelines of NHRC. The forensic team will also investigate the entire matter minutely. Let us tell you that after the matter came to light, there was a stir in the police department also. At the same time, there is silence in Mukesh’s house in Satwas also.
