Delhi Weather Today: Due to snowfall and cold wind in the hilly states of the country, the weather pattern in Delhi has completely changed. The temperature has dropped from 10 and 11 degrees to 8 degrees. It is likely to reach below 6 degrees after the next three days. Right now, despite the sunshine during the day, there is less feeling of cold, but there is a possibility of cold wave starting in Delhi very soon.
The air quality in Delhi, after being recorded in ‘moderate’ category a day earlier, again reached ‘poor’ category on Tuesday and it is expected to remain like this for the next two days. Of the 38 air quality monitoring stations in the national capital, two recorded the AQI in the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday.
AQI 234 in Delhi
The city’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 234 at 4 pm on Tuesday. Whereas on Monday it was in ‘medium’ category (186).
The main pollutant on Tuesday was PM2.5, which was recorded at 87.9 micrograms per cubic meter at 3 pm. These microscopic particles pose a great threat to health because they can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the blood.
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the AQI in the capital is expected to remain ‘poor’ for the next two days. The beginning of December saw an improvement in air quality, which was recorded from ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’ and then to ‘moderate’ category.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 is ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 is ‘poor’, 301 to 400 is ‘extreme’. ‘Poor’ and 401 to 500 are considered ‘severe’.
On Tuesday, the day temperature in Delhi was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees less than normal. The minimum temperature was also recorded at eight degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
According to the forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi on Wednesday are likely to be around 23 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively. There are also chances of fog also.
Yellow alert has been issued for Gurugram and Faridabad.
According to IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi on Wednesday (December 11) is expected to be 23 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 7 degrees. Fog will be seen in the morning. The weather will be clear in Delhi, but cold winds will blow. After December 14, the temperature is expected to go below 6 degrees.
