Delhi News: Delhi Police has exposed an inter-district chain, purse and mobile snatching gang in a major operation. Bindapur police have arrested four members of this gang and recovered eight stolen motorcycles, seven mobile phones and about 5.6 grams of molten gold from their possession. The police have also arrested a goldsmith associated with the gang, who used to buy stolen gold. The arrested main accused Vishal alias Ghodewala is an active member of ‘Vicky Takkar’ gang.
With the arrest of this gang, the police have unearthed a total of 21 cases of chain snatching, purse theft, mobile snatching and vehicle theft. According to the DCP, the team of Bindapur police station was given the responsibility to solve the increasing incidents of snatching and vehicle theft in the area. Under the leadership of SHO Rajesh Malik and supervision of ACP Ishan Bhardwaj, the team of SI Naveen, Head Constable Raju, Yograj, Neeraj, Hari Prakash and Constables Rajesh Dagar and Sandeep conducted this operation.
The police first investigated the crime spots in the area and analyzed the CCTV footage. Also, with the help of informers, the activities of the accused were monitored. Meanwhile, on December 8, information was received that two active criminals would come to street number 5 of Bindapur. After this, the police laid a trap at around 8:15 pm and as soon as both the accused reached there, the police tried to stop them. However, they started running away, but the police chased them and arrested both of them. The arrested accused were identified as Vishal and Vishal Chauhan.

During interrogation, the accused told that they used stolen motorcycles for snatching. Stolen vehicles were left at deserted places after a few days. He revealed that he used to sell the gold chain to a goldsmith named Dharmesh Verma. Police arrested Dharmesh Verma and recovered 5.6 grams of molten gold from him.
After this, other accused Pankaj Kumar (23) and Rahul Kumar alias Kabootar (19) were also arrested. On their investigation, four more motorcycles, 7 mobile phones and Rs 4,900 in cash were recovered. According to the police, some of the arrested accused have already gone to jail. After his release, he again indulged in crime.
With their arrest, success has been achieved in solving many cases of Bindapur, Dabri, Uttam Nagar, Tilak Nagar and South Campus areas. At present, the police is investigating other possible associates and gang networks in this case. Officials say that this action will reduce the incidents of snatching and theft in the area.
