Delhi News: Delhi Metro is not just a public transport service but has become the lifeline of the people of Delhi. Today, if people have to go from one place to another within Delhi, then they choose Metro as the first option for travel. This is the reason why Delhi Metro has once again created the record of highest ‘passenger journey’ in a day by breaking its previous record of highest number of passenger journeys in a day.
Metro became people’s first choice
According to DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal, on Monday 18th November, a total of 78 lakh 67 thousand 17 passengers traveled by metro including all the metro routes, which is the highest in the history of metro till date. Earlier on August 20, 2024, the number of passengers traveling in the metro train was recorded as 77 lakh 49 thousand 682. But on Monday, Metro broke that record and set a new record.
The special thing is that the top 25 most passenger records have been made by Delhi Metro this year and that too between August 2024 and November 18, 2024. Among these, August 23, the day when the least number of passengers traveled in the metro, was also around 73 lakh.
Due to this reason the number of passengers is increasing
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has broken its passenger travel records several times since August, which shows that people are adopting the environment-friendly system. The increasing popularity of Metro not only reduces traffic problems but also reduces vehicular pollution, which improves the air quality in and around the city.
The increased number of passengers in the Metro has once again proved that Metro is the lifeline of Delhi and Delhiites cannot get a better option for comfortable and easy travel than this, while it also helps a lot in saving the environment of Delhi. , because the more people leave their personal vehicles and travel by metro, the less carbon emissions are in Delhi’s environment.
Increase in passenger convenience
At the same time, DMRC has recently started the facility of ticket booking on many digital platforms for the passengers, so that they can plan their journey anytime, from anywhere and avoid standing in the queue at the station. Apart from this, through agreements with organizations like IRCTC, NCRTC, ITPO etc., passengers can avail the benefits of traveling by metro as well as other transport options.
Dayal said that DMRC is the first metro in the world to be registered for carbon credits by the United Nations for Environmental Sustainability. DMRC will continue to work to increase connectivity in the Delhi NCR region while giving priority to passenger safety and comfort.
