Delhi: Imams of mosques protest outside CM Kejriwal’s house, angry over not getting salary


Delhi Imams Protest: Imams of several mosques affiliated to the Delhi Waqf Board protested near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Tuesday, alleging non-payment of salaries. An Imam who participated in the demonstration said that they have gathered here to convey their point to the government officials. Imams and muezzins of mosques affiliated to the Waqf Board claimed last week that they have not received their monthly salaries for more than five months.

He had also threatened to protest outside Arvind Kejriwal’s residence regarding this. Some employees of the Waqf Board claimed that they were not getting their salaries because the revenue department had stopped the grant given to the board by the Delhi government. Let us tell you that on last Friday, the employees of Delhi Waqf Board went on strike due to non-payment of outstanding salaries for the last several months. Apart from this, the Imams of Waqf Board related mosques had also warned to protest outside the residence of CM Arvind Kejriwal.

An employee of the Waqf Board told that he has not been paid salary for the last 3 to 4 months. According to the employees of Delhi Waqf Board, they have repeatedly drawn the attention of the government regarding this, but till now no solution has been found for this problem. Significantly, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan is the chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board. There is an allegation against Amanatullah Khan that he did irregularity in recruitment and also misused the grant received from the Delhi government.
