Cyberattacks in India: The cases of cyber attacks in India have increased significantly in the last few months. Shocking figures have emerged in a report by a cyber security research firm. According to this report, more than 400 cyber attacks are being carried out every day in the first quarter of 2024. These attacks are not being carried out on ordinary users but on organizations. Hackers are targeting organizations the most through remote code execution, due to which 64 percent of the organizations have been affected.
Attacks increased rapidly in 6 months
In this report released by cyber research firm Check Point Research (CPR), it has been said that in the last 6 months, cyber attacks have been carried out on Indian institutions 2628 times every week, which is more than 350 daily. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2024, the number of these attacks has reached 2807. If seen on a daily basis, more than 400 cyber attacks are being carried out on Indian institutions every day.
According to the report of the research firm, these cyber attacks on Indian institutions have increased by 33 percent year-on-year. At the same time, if we talk about global trend, in the last 6 months the average is 1236 attacks per week i.e. less than 200 cyber attacks are being carried out daily.

These institutions remain the target
According to the research firm, most education and research organizations are being targeted by hackers. After this, government and military organizations are targeted by hackers. The main institutions that are being targeted by hackers include healthcare, communication, utility, hardware, banking, finance, consultant, retail, transportation etc. However, the biggest jump in cyber attacks has been seen in the African region, where 20 percent more attacks have been carried out year-on-year. At the same time, 16 percent more attacks have been carried out in the Asia-Pacific region. The number of cyber attacks in Latin America has decreased by 20 percent.
North America has seen the highest number of ransomware attacks in the first quarter of 2024. According to the report, 59 percent cases of ransomware attacks have been reported in this region. After this, 24 percent ransomware attacks have occurred in Europe and 12 percent in Asia-Pacific. According to this report, in India, most of the attacks by malware named FakeUpdates have been done on institutions. At the same time, if we talk about the data of last 30 days, among the cyber attacks on Indian institutions, maximum 53 percent malware attacks have been done through websites.
