Most Expensive Indian Players IPL Auction 2025: The IPL 2025 mega auction was full of excitement, with all 10 teams spending a total of Rs 639.15 crore. Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were the biggest spending teams as they had the biggest purse. A total of 182 players were sold in the two-day auction, including 62 foreign players. In this auction, a lot of money has been showered especially on Indian players.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer broke all records
There were speculations in the mega auction that Delhi Capitals would buy Shreyas Iyer. Delhi was ready to spend not only Rs 20 crore but also Rs 25 crore on Iyer, but DC did not think it right to bid after Rs 26.50 crore. On the other hand, Punjab Kings got the benefit of big purse and created history by buying Shreyas for Rs 26.75 crore. Iyer remained the most expensive player of IPL for some time because Rishabh Pant’s name came soon after him. When LSG bid Rs 20.75 crore, Delhi Capitals matched it under the RTM card, but the next moment Lucknow team owner Sanjiv Goenka hinted at Rs 27 crore, everyone was stunned. Pant has now become the most expensive player in IPL history.
Venkatesh Iyer became rich
Venkatesh Iyer is a batting all-rounder, but he has been seen bowling on very few occasions. Last season, he scored 370 runs in 14 matches while batting in the upper order for KKR. He has also scored a century in IPL. He was released by Kolkata before the mega auction, but bought him back by spending Rs 23.75 crore in the auction. A large number of fans on social media have expressed their disappointment that such a huge amount should not have been spent on Venkatesh Iyer.
Arshdeep-Chahal and uncapped players
Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were released by Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals respectively. Now Punjab Kings have created a sensation by buying both of them for Rs 18 crore each. Arshdeep’s IPL salary has increased by Rs 14 crore, on the other hand, Chahal is going to get Rs 11.50 crore more to play the next season.
Apart from them, a lot of money was also showered on Indian uncapped players. Right-arm medium pace bowler Rasikh Dar Salaam was the most expensive uncapped player of the IPL 2025 mega auction, RCB bought him for Rs 6 crore. Abdul Samad (LSG), Nehal Wadhera (Punjab), both confirmed deals worth Rs 4.2 crore. Meanwhile, Haryana’s fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, who took 10 wickets in a single innings in the current season of Ranji Trophy, has also been bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 3.4 crore.
