Country’s first hydrogen train will run between Jind and Sonipat, RDSO released first picture

The country’s first hydrogen train is ready. Its trial has also been done and soon this train will be run for common passengers. This information was given by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He told that RDSO has released the first picture of the hydrogen train. This train has been designed by RDSO itself, which was manufactured in Integral Coach Factory, Chennai.

Hydrogen train will run at a speed of 110 kilometers

RDSO Director Uday Bhorvankar said that the country’s first hydrogen train will run between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. It is expected that this train will start running by March-April 2025. This train will have eight coaches, which will run at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour.

What will be the internal technical structure?

The hydrogen train will have compartments for hydrogen and will also have 4 batteries to convert it into fuel. The special thing is that in many countries of the world, hydrogen fuel is successful in road transport, but it has not been successfully used in rail transport. Talking about the internal design of the hydrogen train, there will be a control panel behind the driver’s desk, behind which a 210 kilowatt battery will be installed. After this, there will be fuel cell and behind it hydrogen cylinder cascade-1, 2 and 3. After this there will be a fuel sale again. Ultimately a 120 kWh battery will be installed.

First train of its kind in the world

It is worth noting that till now hydrogen fueled trains have been built only in Germany, Switzerland and China, but they have not been successful on a large scale anywhere. This train is running only in Germany which has only two coaches. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the big thing is that we want to master this technology, because till now it has not been used on a large scale anywhere in the world. Germany, Switzerland and China tried, but could not succeed at that level. In other countries, trains up to 1000 horse power were prepared, whereas we are working on 1200hp. We want it to be used in boats, tug boats (pulling ships) and trucks also in the country.

Namo Green Rail will be the name of the train?

Let us tell you that RDSO has currently named this train as Namo Green Rail. However, Ashwini Vaishnav says that no name has been given for the hydrogen train yet. Only when an announcement about this will be made, the name of the train will also be kept. It cannot be said at present whether this train will run in January or March. However, it is certain that this train will be run soon.
