Uniform Civil Code News: There is an uproar in the country regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). After giving a statement on this issue on behalf of PM Modi, the discussion has intensified. Some opposition parties are seen supporting the central government on this issue. Meanwhile, on Friday (June 30), Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand soon. Know the big things related to this issue.
1. A Parliamentary Standing Committee has called representatives of the Law Commission and the Law Ministry on July 3 on the recent notice issued by the Law Commission to seek views of various stakeholders on the issue of Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Till Tuesday evening, the Law Commission had received around 8.5 lakh responses to its public notice.
2. BJP MP Sushil Modi, head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Uniform Civil Code, said that the Law Commission will answer the questions of MPs on the consultation paper on UCC on July 3. Personal law comes under the jurisdiction of the Law and Justice Committee. The committee will discuss the consultation paper of the Law Commission and people from all the parties will be present during this discussion. This meeting has nothing to do with politics in any way. The discussion paper will be discussed in the committee.
4. Owaisi said that he is the prime minister of all Indians, then why has he cut the minority welfare budget by 40%? Why does his government oppose SC reservation for Dalit Muslims? 6. The head of the committee formed by Uttarakhand amidst the ongoing furore over UCC at the Center Retired Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai said that the draft report on Uniform Civil Code will be submitted to the Uttarakhand government soon. They said that The committee also held talks with representatives of political parties, the State Statutory Commission as well as leaders of various religious sects. I am very happy to inform you that the draft of the proposed Uniform Civil Code of Uttarakhand is now complete. Soon the report will be submitted to the Uttarakhand government.
7. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that After forming the government, we had taken the first decision of Uniform Civil Code. For this we have formed a committee. In this, the committee has made its compilation by talking to more than 2 lakh 20 thousand people. The draft is nearing completion. As soon as we get the draft, we will review it. We are moving towards implementing it soon.
8. The Central Government can bring the Uniform Civil Code Bill in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Speaker of Parliament will talk on UCC. 370 is over or not? The temple of Lord Ram is being built. Whether Vishwanath ji’s temple was built in Kashi or not? Is triple talaq over or not? Similarly, Uniform Civil Code will also come. Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said that Uniform Civil Code is not a religious issue, but a matter of equal rights, justice and respect for women.
9. On UCC, the central government can also get the support of Uddhav Thackeray’s party Shiv Sena (UBT). No official statement has yet come from Uddhav Thackeray’s party on the Uniform Civil Code, but sources say that if the bill is brought in Parliament, Uddhav Thackeray’s party will support it. Uddhav Thackeray had earlier spoken of supporting the UCC on 20 June.
10. CM of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde The Shiv Sena led by K has supported the UCC. Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale said he supports Balasaheb Thackeray’s vision of “one nation, one law” and appealed to the Center to discuss the proposed Uniform Civil Code in the monsoon session of Parliament. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party has also expressed support on UCC. AAP leader Sandeep Pathak had said that in principle AAP stands with UCC, but it should be implemented after wide consultation with all.
