Controversy over Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s poster in saffron clothes in Tamil Nadu, Goonda Act imposed on the accused

Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Poster Row: Controversy continues in Tamil Nadu over the posting of posters of Constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in saffron clothes. Now action is being taken against the accused in this case under the Goonda Act. The police had arrested Gurumurthy, the Kumbakonam district secretary of Hindu organization Indu Makkal Katchi (IMK) in this case. Now action is being taken against Gurumurthy under the Goonda Act.

Till now he was lodged in Kumbakonam sub-jail. Now he has been sent to Tiruchi Central Jail. A case under the Goondas Act was registered on Tuesday (December 21) based on the orders of Thanjavur District Collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver. Let us inform that these posters were put up in Kumbakonam district of Tamil Nadu on the occasion of Babasaheb’s death anniversary on 6th December.

Demand for arrest of IMK founder

In these controversial posters, Baba Saheb was shown in saffron colored clothes. Tikka was applied with Kumkum after making Tripund from Vibhuti on his forehead. Controversy had started on these posters. Members of Viduthalai Chirutaigal Katchi (VCK) protested against it. VCK said that through these posters, an attempt is being made to show them as right wing. People had demanded the arrest of IMK founder Arjun Sampath.

Police also arrested the press owner

At the same time, while supporting these posters, Arjun Sampat had said that Dr. Ambedkar is the leader of the whole country. When the dispute escalated, the police took action in this matter and took Gurumurthy, the Kumbakonam district secretary of Indu Makkal Katchi, into custody. Apart from Gurumurthy, Manikandan, the press owner who printed the controversial poster, has also been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
