Congress MLA Umang Singhar gets anticipatory bail from the High Court, but will not be able to leave the country

Umang Singhar Anticipatory Bail Approved: Congress MLA Umang Singhar has got a big relief in the case related to rape. The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to former minister and Congress MLA Umang Singhar in the case of rape by his wife. A single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi, while accepting the bail application, directed Singhar that he will not leave the country without the permission of the trial court and will cooperate fully in the trial.

Before this, the Dhar court had rejected the anticipatory bail of Umang Singhar. Senior advocate Manish Dutt, on behalf of the applicant, argued in the High Court that the complainant herself has accepted in the FIR that she is the wife of the applicant. Making physical relation with wife does not come under the category of rape. He said that the complainant is 38 years old. Both have a love affair before marriage.

The High Court approved the anticipatory bail application

He argued that the complainant has leveled allegations of unnatural sex to get a share in the MLA’s property. Many cases are also registered against the complainant. On the other hand, the bail application was opposed by the government, but the court approved the anticipatory bail application without any comment. For this, he will have to fill a bond of Rs 2 lakh. Significantly, on November 20, 2022, on the complaint of Umang Singhar’s wife, an FIR was registered against him at Naogaon police station in Dhar. He had earlier complained to the Jabalpur police station, from where the Dhar police was informed.

In fact, the wife of Congress MLA Umang Singhar had made allegations of unnatural sex and assault against him. In this regard, the wife lodged an FIR, after which a case was registered against Umang Singhar under sections 293, 323, 376, 377, 498 and 506 of Indian law. However, now he has got anticipatory bail from the High Court.
