Congress leader objected to Sharad Pawar’s claim, told when MVA can be broken?

Prithviraj Chavan on Sharad Pawar: Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has objected to Sharad Pawar’s claim about the Congress. While campaigning in Karnataka’s Belagavi on Wednesday (May 3), Chavan also said that Pawar’s resignation as NCP chief will not affect the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. Pawar has written in his autobiography that during the talks for the formation of MVA in 2019, the Congress leadership was stubborn.

Prithviraj Chavan said that the Congress leadership held extensive and detailed discussions on the issue of joining hands with the Shiv Sena, which led to the delay. Chavan said that Congress was a national party while Shiv Sena and NCP were confined to Maharashtra. He said Pawar’s resignation as NCP president will not affect the future of the MVA. Chavan said that the MVA will break only when one of the three partners breaks down and joins hands with the BJP.

What did Prithviraj Chavan say?

He said that our leadership had to consult everyone including leaders of other states on the issue of alliance with Shiv Sena. Even our minority community leaders said that the Congress needed to stop the BJP from coming to power in Maharashtra at any cost, but the deliberations and consultations took time. It is Sharad Pawar’s belief that the Congress is stubborn.

Question asked on Fadnavis’s claim

Chavan acknowledged that Congress and NCP leaders had heated arguments, as Pawar recounts in his book, a day before NCP’s Ajit Pawar rebelled and formed a short-lived government by joining hands with the BJP in November 2019 . Chavan asked if this was the reason for the discord that led Ajit Pawar to join hands with the BJP, then could there be some truth in Devendra Fadnavis’ claim that the swearing-in had Sharad Pawar’s blessings.
