Congress angry over the insult of Bapu’s statue in Basti, submitted memorandum warning of fast

Basti News Today: The case of the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi being found in the garbage in the District Panchayat Auditorium of Basti is gaining momentum. Party leaders and workers, under the leadership of outgoing Vice President of District Congress Committee Girjesh Pal, submitted a memorandum addressed to the District Magistrate to Deputy District Magistrate Sunishtha Singh regarding action against the guilty officers in this case.

Through the memorandum, Congress leaders have demanded that action should be taken against the Additional Chief Officer, Junior Engineer and Contractor of the District Panchayat by registering a case under appropriate sections. Apart from this, the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi should be re-established at the appropriate place.

Congress leaders warned
After submitting the memorandum, Congress leader Girjesh Pal said that if Bapu’s statue is not replaced in a dignified manner with strict action against the culprits, then he along with his party leaders and workers will be forced to fast in front of the District Magistrate’s office. .

Congress made serious allegations
Congress leader Girjesh Pal said that Bapu statue was installed in the auditorium of District Panchayat Basti. When the auditorium was being demolished for new construction, Bapu’s statue was thrown in the dustbin. When Congress leaders vociferously opposed this, the District Panchayat Administration had asked for three days’ time, but no action was taken against any officer or contractor.

Congress leaders have termed this situation as unfortunate due to no action being taken in the matter. Outgoing Vice President of Congress Committee Girjesh Pal said that the state president and national leadership have been informed about the incident.

What did the administration say about the action?
In this regard, Additional Chief Officer Vijay Verma said that a letter has been sent to the government for action against the concerned contractor. Apart from this, the process of blacklisting the contractor is also going on and payment for some of the contractor’s work has been stopped and he has been declared as Shramdaan. On the other hand, Congress workers and officials are adamant on registering a case against the culprits.
