JNU Professor Allegations: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union on Monday (April 29) alleged that a girl student was sexually assaulted by a teacher on the university campus. The student union said that the university administration did not take any action on the complaint of the victim, due to which the student was forced to leave the campus.
The student union said that the female colleagues of the victim have also accused the same teacher of sexual and mental harassment, but despite this, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of JNU did not take any action on another complaint by the girl students. He has demanded expediting the processing of complaints filed by students and action including suspension against the accused teacher.

Expressing solidarity with the victim, the JNU Students’ Union said in a statement, “The JNU Students’ Union was informed by a senior professor at the Center of Chinese and South East Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies, along with a woman from the same centre. A case of sexual and mental harassment has been detected against the student. The accused professor harassed the victim through continuous messages and calls, which included obscene poems, requests for personal meetings, etc. When the professor refused to obey, he threatened to fail the student in the paper. ,
What did JNU administration say on the matter?
The university administration has also responded to the allegations made by the JNU Student Union. Vandana Mishra, presiding officer of JNU’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) told PTI that the matter is under investigation and necessary steps are being taken. Vandana Mishra said, “The due process of inquiry is going on. Necessary steps have been taken by the ICC. No response has been received yet from the accused professor in the case.
