Gorakhpur News: During his visit to Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Under his leadership, a new sports culture has been created in the country in the last ten years. While PM Modi has promoted the new culture of sports through Khelo India, Fit India Movement, MP Sports Competition, the state government is also continuously encouraging players and sports activities in the state.
CM Yogi was addressing the inauguration ceremony of Gorakhpur’s first mini sports complex built in Bhati Vihar Colony of the metropolis on Friday afternoon. The Chief Minister said that in order to encourage sports and players, the state government has started the Rural Sports League. An environment of sports is being created in the villages through Yuvak Mangal Dals and Mahila Mangal Dals. Playgrounds are being built in every village. Land and funds are being made available to build mini stadiums at the block level and stadiums at the district level.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government is going to build an international cricket stadium in Gorakhpur. Apart from this, construction of a big sports center on 33 acres in Rapti Nagar area will also start in a few months. He told that construction of a mini stadium is going on in Sahjanwa. The process of building mini stadiums is going on in other areas also. The Chief Minister said that the Mini Sports Complex of Bhati Vihar will be operated on PPP mode. Here players will get excellent training and other facilities.
Sports is the best medium for career – CM
Yogi Adityanath said that sports is also a great medium to make a career. The state government directly provides government jobs to medal winners of Olympics, Asiad, Commonwealth Games and World Championships. He told that Indian hockey team player Lalit Upadhyay, who won the medal in the 2022 Tokyo Olympics, has been directly made the Deputy SP. The government is also going to make this time’s Olympic medal winning hockey team player Rajkumar Pal as Deputy SP. The Chief Minister said that till now more than 500 players have been given jobs in UP Police and other government departments in the state.
While establishing the fact of showering money on the players, CM Yogi in his address said that the state government will give Rs 6 crore to the state player who wins the gold medal in the singles event of the Olympics, Rs 4 crore to the silver medal winner and Rs 2 crore to the bronze medal winner. Gives an amount of Rs crore. In team competition this amount is Rs 3 crore, Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively. Cash prizes are also given to medal winners of Asiad, Commonwealth Games, World Championship. Besides, incentive amount is provided to the players participating in these competitions.
‘PM Modi remembered those whom people forgot’
Referring to the players selected for sports awards, CM Yogi said that this time four big players have been selected for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna. Among them is Uttar Pradesh player and Para Olympics gold medal winner Praveen Kumar. Murlikant Petkar, a player who had won the gold medal in Para Olympics in the seventies, was selected for the Arjuna Award. People had forgotten him but PM Modi remembered him.
The Chief Minister said that sports is necessary for a healthy life. Most of the people who were in the grip of Corona were those who were looking for comfort. Hard work is necessary for a healthy life and sports is a great medium for this. He said that only a fit youth can lay the foundation of a healthy and strong society and nation. The nation benefits from the energy of fit youth.
CM happy after inspecting mini sports complex
The Chief Minister also inspected the Mini Sports Complex built in the name of Baba Raghav Das. He inspected the gym for indoor games, administrative block, badminton court, rifle and pistol shooting range, multi-purpose hall for outdoor games, 300 meter synthetic running track for outdoor games, lawn tennis court etc. in the complex. He was happy to see the arrangements here that the government funds have been used well in the interest of the players.
Especially praising the shooting range, he said that now shooting players will not have to go out to hone their skills. The Mini Sports Complex was constructed by Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) on 2 acres of land. It has cost Rs 5.96 crore, out of which CM Yogi has given Rs 3 crore from his MLA fund (Legislative Area Development Fund). The remaining amount has been given by GDA. Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava also addressed the inauguration ceremony. In the end, Divisional Commissioner Anil Dhingra and GDA Vice President Anand Vardhan presented a memento to the Chief Minister.
On this occasion, MLC and State Vice President of BJP Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, Vipin Singh, Sarwan Nishad, local councilor Dharamdev Chauhan, Metropolitan President of BJP Rajesh Gupta, Mahant Ravindradas of Kalibari, GDA Board members Radheshyam Srivastava, Durgesh Bajaj, Pawan Tripathi, block chief Sanjay Singh and Sanjay Yadav, administration, GDA and police officials, players and a large number of sports lovers were present.
