YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made serious allegations against CM
Andhra Pradesh opposition leader and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made serious allegations against the Chief Minister’s government. He says that the government is taking retaliatory action against YSRCP workers. Recently, Kanchikecharla police station has issued notices to 171 residents, who were members of only one WhatsApp group. This group was “Pendyala MPP Group”. Who alleges that due to being active on social media, he received a notice from the police. According to the information, YSRCP has called it a violation of freedom of expression.
Requirement to issue notice before arrest
YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister YS Jagan alleged that the law and order situation in the state has completely deteriorated and social media activists are being targeted without due legal process. He says that the Supreme Court has already clarified that proper notice and warrant are required before arrest, but Andhra Pradesh Police has ignored it and started calling people to the police station.
No concrete action against registered cases
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made it clear that if voted to power, his party will take strict action against these police officers and they will be made accountable before the court. Apart from this, he also alleged that no concrete action has been taken in the cases registered against women and minors in the last five months, due to which questions are being raised on the functioning of the government. Amidst the growing controversy over police action on social media, a public interest litigation has also been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. In this petition, the action being taken by the police against social media workers has been challenged.
