Chaitra Navratri 2024 Day 1 Maa Brahmacharini Puja: Mother Brahmacharini Devi is the presiding deity of the second day of Navratri. Her form is very delightful and grand. ‘Brahma’ in the name of the goddess means penance. That means the goddess who does penance. On the advice of Narad ji, he did penance for Lord Shiva for thousands of years. As a result of her ascetic conduct, her name became ‘Brahmacharini’.

Mother has a Kamandal in one hand and a rosary for chanting in the other hand. This ascetic form of Mother is going to give many fruits to everyone. By worshiping them, virtues increase in a person’s life. He never deviates from the path of duty with the blessings of his mother. He achieves success in every work. On this day the mind of the ascetic remains situated in Swadhisthana. Their prayer mantra is:-

Dadhana Karpadmaabhyamkshamalakamandlu. Devi Prasidatu Mayi Brahmacharinyanuttama ||

Story of Maa Brahmacharini (Maa Brahmacharini Katha)

After the story of Maa Shailputri on the first day of Navratri, it would be known that when Sati was born again, she came as the daughter of Himalaya Raj. On the advice of Narad ji, he performed severe penance to attain Lord Shiva. That’s why she was called ‘Tapascharini’ or ‘Brahmacharini’. Spent a thousand years eating tubers, spent a hundred years eating vegetables. She endured the sun in summer, water in summer and cold in winter and slept under the open sky. She lived for some days by eating dried Belpatra.

Then she also stopped eating leaves and was recognized as ‘Aparna’. Lord Shiva tested her many times in which she was completely successful. The result of this penance was that he got blessings from Lord Brahma. Lord Brahmaji assured her that Shiva would definitely get married to her and also advised that her father was going to arrive in a few moments, so Parvati should return to the Himalayas with her father and wait for Shivaji.

Mother Brahmacharini is worshiped on the second day of Navratri and women wear white saree on this day. According to Devi Purana, food is offered to two virgin girls on this day.
