Censor Board will now give certificate to films as per new rules, know what will be the benefits

CBFC Updated Film Certification System: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) plays an important role in the distribution of films made in India. CBFC has followed a standard process regarding film certification for more than 4 decades. However, now some changes have been made in this process.

After the recent update, this process has got a new look. The benefit of this will be that it will be easier for parents to understand which film is suitable for their children. According to the new structure, now five different categories have been included.

The new updates made recently by CBFC are aimed at helping parents decide better content for their children.

Which categories have been created by CBFC?
CBFC will now issue certificates to films in UA 7+, UA 13+, UA 16+, and A categories under the new update. Now let us understand these categories properly.

U category
If a film has been given a certificate in this category, it means that such a film can be watched by viewers of all ages, whether children or elders.

All categories under UA category
This category is divided into four different parts according to age. The first is UA 7+, the second is UA 13+ and the third is UA 16+. If such films are kept in these categories, then they are not banned for children but come with some caution as per the age.

UA 7+ category
This category means that these movies will be suitable for children aged 7 years and above. However, in this category, guardians will be able to decide whether the film is suitable for their young child or not.

UA 13+ category
This category means that these films can be watched by children aged 13 years and above.

UA 16+ category
Similarly, a certificate in this category will guide parents or guardians to ensure that it is appropriate for their children above 16 years of age.

A category
Those films will be kept in this category which can be watched by people of 18 years of age or above. These films are made for adults.

What will be the benefit of the new category?
The objective of this new certification system is to provide accurate information about the content to parents and guardians, which will help them in choosing appropriate content for their children.

ETimes has written quoting CBFC board members that work on this new update was going on for many years. This new structure will ensure that all films do not go into the same category.
