Canada is protecting terrorists! Clean chit given to wanted officer in India, accused of terrorism

Canada Clean Chit To Sunny Toronto: A Canadian border agency officer, wanted in India on terrorism charges, has been given a clean chit by his employer Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The officer has also been reinstated to his post in CBSA.

Sandeep Singh Sidhu alias Sunny Toronto, who worked as a border police officer in Canada, was accused by the Indian government of promoting terrorist activities and murder of a Shaurya Chakra winner in Punjab. In fact, he was even included in the list of fugitives sought for deportation.

Why did Canada give clean chit to Wanted in India?

According to CBC News, Sandeep Sidhu’s lawyers said the Canadian government should have more forcefully defended him against a foreign government accused of running a hostile disinformation campaign in this country. This investigation and the clean chit given to the accused of terrorism has come at a time when there is a tense situation between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Who is Sandeep Sidhu?

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) employee Sandeep Singh Sindhu has been accused by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) of being a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF). The agency has also accused him of being associated with the Khalistani terrorist network and Pakistan’s notorious spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) also alleged that Sidhu was the mastermind behind the murder of Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh Sandhu in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district in October 2020.

Relations between the two countries deteriorated further after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau repeatedly accused Indian government ‘agents’ of involvement in Nijjar’s murder. However, they have not been able to provide any evidence to prove their claims correct.
