Calcutta High Court orders CBI probe into violence in nomination for Panchayat elections in Bengal


West Bengal Panchayat Elections 2023: The Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry into the violence that took place during the nomination for the Panchayat elections in West Bengal. The opposition parties of Bengal state had filed a petition in the High Court. It included BJP, Congress and CPM. He alleged that the names of some candidates have disappeared from the list of candidates.

During the hearing in this case, Justice Amrita Sinha expressed displeasure over the violence in the Panchayat elections. He said, “So much violence has been seen in the panchayat elections. If such bloodshed continues, then the elections should be stopped.” Before the High Court, the Supreme Court has also made strict comments on the violence in the Bengal Panchayat elections.
